CPS Computer Programming Services, Inc.
The company was formed out of a need for “Buy Here Pay Here” Software for the Used Car Dealer. Goah Barnes, a computer programmer with 17 years experience, went into partnership with Lynn, of Lynn Smith Used Cars, in 1984 to create G & L Computer Systems Inc. Goah knew how to program and Lynn knew the used car business.
As members of not only TIADA but several of the local Independent dealer associations our main focus was meeting the needs of the Texas dealers. The CARS software was the first calculations reviewed by the Texas Office of Consumer Credit Commissioner. After seeing the dealer need for a Related Finance Company, software was created to easily transfer accounts once again increasing sales. Sales soon expanded outside of the Texas borders and we were selling nationwide.
In 2000 the name was changed to CPS, Inc. Computer Programming Services but the focus was still to provide an unmatched Dealer Management Software (DMS)for the Used Car dealer and Finance Companies. Over the years the software has evolved meeting the ever changing needs of the “BHPH” dealer. The CARS software was originally written in DOS to run on a Unix platform taking advantage of the ease of running multiple locations. CPS not only provides the automotive industry with a reliable DMS software but also accurate and reliable general ledger accounting interfaces for both QuickBooks and Peachtree.
Today WinCars, a Windows based software, runs on the latest technology. CPS Inc., anticipates continued growth thanks to both their longstanding & new customers.
